The Grandcats

Bandersnatch & Jabberwocky in a calm moment.
So we've decided that we're going to wait a little while to have a baby. It's getting pretty late in the year to shoot for a mild-weather delivery and we want to get some things in order first. I think our cats know this.
You see, they've been on good behavior apparently. It seems that they knew that up until now, there was a constant threat of being replaced in our attentions that we would love more, that would love us more, and that would possibly drive them out. And now that we've made this decision, it would appear that our cats feel as though they have gotten a free pass. Apparently, this gives them the right to go crazy.
Okay, so they've always been a little crazy. Fighting with each other, meowing at night, that sort of thing. But recently, they've taken thier feline mischief to new heights. A few nights ago we woke up to the sound of the celing falling in on top of us and the walls collapsing. As it turns out, they merely knocked a large clock down, causing it to carreen from the top of the entertainment center, off of the TV, and across the living room- taking all manner of knick-knacks and candles with it. But the racket was enough to kill a man.
Since then, they have certainly rachetted up the level of running, fighting, caterwalling, knocking-things-over, and general monkeyness. I think they have decided that they are here to stay. That we were bluffing on the whole baby thing. Well, our parents will be glad to note that we weren't bluffing, and they have been extra annoying during sleepy time- but when your cats are as cute as these... maybe we can find a way for the grandcats to coexist with the grandkids.
