Nerds of a feather...

So Jodi and I are both geeks. Noöne disputes that. Until now, though, we've always been geeky about different things- I had They Might Be Giants, Jodi had Broadway, among others. But we have finally found something to be geeky about together!

From the maker of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, came a show called Firefly. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled after 11 episodes, mostly becuase nobody watched it, including us.

Until this month, that is. We were always intrigued by it, because of the Buffy/Angel thing, but it was undermarketed at the time, and put in a bad time slot. Adding to our intrigue, was the announcement last year that the show was being made into a movie, called Serenity. So when our friend Ben mentioned that he had watched the show, and loved it, then we decided that we had to buy it.

And guess what... It's possibly the best TV show we've ever seen. We watched all 14 episodes (including the 3 never aired) in the span of 4 days, and was left wanting more. The characters, the stories, the visuals, the space physics (oh, the space physics!) were all spot-on.

Now we've both joined the official online community based on geeking out over the forthcoming movie (September 30th), watched all of the episode commentaries, and are finally united in common dorkdom!

O-Town Trip

Jeremy, Megan, Jodi and I @ Medieval Times

Last weekend (okay, the weekend before last to be technical), we spent the day in Orlando with my brother, Jeremy and his girlfriend, Megan. We went to Downtown Disney and hung out at the Lego Store, Ghirardeli, and Sosa Cigars. For dinner, we met up with Megan's brother Jeff and his fiance Sherry at Medieval Times.

I'm so glad that I have a brother that I can hang out with, smoke a cigar with, and generally pal around with. And believe me, I know I'm fortunate in that relationship.

Anyway, it was a really good time. Medieval times is a blast, and I'd recommend it to anyone- if only for the easiest choice ever: "Beer or Pepsi?"
